Jyotirlinga literally means Linga of light. In a spiritual sense, it can be elaborated to The all-pervading Brahmatmalinga or all-pervading light. It is mentioned in the Taittiriya Upanishad, that the twelve Principles of Brahma, Maya, the jiva, the mind, intellect, subconscious mind, ego, and the Panchamahabhutas have been referred to as the twelve Jyotirlingas. These are referred to as the twelve sections of the Shivalinga as well. In Sanatan Dharma getting the darshan of all these lingas in a single lifetime is considered as a rare opportunity and blessing from Bholenath. Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain district and Omkareshwar in Khandwa district are the 2 Maha Jyotirlingas of Madhyapradesh.

1Day 1Reach Indore and get assisted tranfer from Airport/Railway Station to the hotel. Take a short rest and leave from Indore to Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. The temple is at the island of Mandhata which falls on the confluence point of Kaveri and Narmada rivers. Mandhata island has its shape resembling the sacred symbol of OM. The temple is built in Nagara style architecture and have detailed and intricate carvings. The Jyotirlinga which is installed on the base floor of the temple remains immersed in water. There are 20 shrines which are devoted to several deities including Ganesh, Krishna, Narmada, and Shani. After the darshan get back to Indore hotel for dinner and night stay.

2Day 2After early break fast checkout from hotel and leave for Shri Mahakaleshwar of Ujjayini which will take a 1 hr 15 min (55.9 km) journey. Shri Mahakaleshwar of Ujjayini is known among the twelve celebrated Jyotirlingas in India. The glory of Mahakaleshwar temple has been vividly described in various Purans. When did the Mahakala temple first come into existence, is difficult to tell. However, the event may be assigned to the Pre-historic period. Puranas narrate that it was first established by Prajapita Brahma. Kal Bhairav Temple is 5 KM away from Shree Mahakaleshwar Temple.Sandipani AshramSandipani Ashram is a holy shrine that is built in remembrance of the Maharishi Sandipani and is considered one of the famous tourist spots in Ujjain. According to mythology, it is believed that this is the ashram where Guru Sandipani used to teach Shri Krishna, his friend Sudama and Lord Krishna's brother Balram. This is 3 KM away from Kal Bhairav Temple. After the darshan get back to Indore and get droped into the Airport/Railway station to continue with your onward journey.
