While going on Roopkund (locally known as Mystery Lake or Skeleton Lake) Trek one can complete two other famous treks in the region also. They are Ali Bugyal & Bedni Bugyal treks. Roopkund is a high-altitude glacial lake in the deeper Himalayas that lies in the lap of Trishul massif. The Roopkund Lake is situated at an altitude of 16,499 feet above sea level. Roopkund is one of the most popular treks of Uttarakhand, as it offers magnificent mountain scenery and also the mystery of skeletons found in the lake. Trek to Roopkund is graded difficult. Ali Bugyal & Bedni Bugyal treks take you to some of the enchanting valleys, hushed hamlets, and deep dark woods. The route to Ali Bedni Bugyal involves easy to medium-grade trekking. Bedni Bugyal is one of the most beautiful meadows in India and provides a breathtaking view of the Trishul peak. Trek to Ali Bugyal and Bedni Bugyal can be commenced from Lohajung Pass and Wan Village. Wan is well connected by roads and is the last road head.

1Day 1Arrive at Dehradun airport and get assisted transport to reach Rishikesh. Dehradun airport to Rishikesh is 21 KM. On arrival check in to the hotel and later leave to visit Ram Jhula, Laxman Jhula, Sita Phool, Shri Bharat Mandir, Triveni Ghat, The Beatles Ashram, Neelkanth Mahadev Temple, and Parmarth Niketan. Rishikesh is a good market for handicrafts, please don't forget to collect some souvenirs from here. In the evening attend the evening Aarti at Parmarth or Shatrughan Ghat. Later get back to the hotel for food and rest.

2Day 2After an early breakfast drive from Rishikesh to base camp Wan Village. Wan is 7,800 ft high and 255 KM away from Rishikesh and takes 9-10 hours to reach. Night Stay in the Home Stay. Local markets and networks are available. The route will be Rishikesh, Devprayag, Srinagar, Rudraprayag, Karanprayag, Dewal, Lohajung & Wan.

3Day 3After breakfast trek to Gehroli Patal which is 10,000 ft above sea level and 5 hour trek towards the enchanting villages of Wan to reach the ridge of Rankiyadhar. From here, the trail descends to the river Neelganga River. After crossing the river, we will pass through the dense forests of Rhododendrons and Oak to reach Gairoli Patal. Night stay and dinner at Gairoli Patal.

4Day 4There is a route situated on the right side of Ghairoli Patal to climb Ali Bugyal. The distance is around 4kms and the trek will be steep. April is the perfect time to do this trek as Rhododendrons will be in their blooming season and provides an amazing view. Explore Ali Bugyal to reach a vantage point to get a glimpse of this beautiful ridge meadow. By evening come back to Ghairoli Patal for dinner and a night stay.

5Day 5Early morning leave for Bedni Bugyal which is 11,500 ft high, after enjoying this meadow move on to Patar Nachauni. which is 12,700 ft high. This whole trip can take 5 hours to complete. Patar Nachauni, the name literally means 'dancing girls' in the local language. This is what the queen took as a sacrilege in her domain and killed about 300 people by sending a dangerous hailstorm downhill. Presently, this place is a campsite and a part of the route of the Roopkund trekking route. Once in camp settle for dinner and a night stay.

6Day 6Start your trek from Patar Nachauni to Bhagwabhasa is 14,100 ft in height and it takes 5 hours to reach. Bhagwabhasa is a completely isolated place in the middle of the scattered stone blocks. It is situated on the edge of a mountain and from here, one can have a panoramic view of high-altitude Himalayan Peaks. Bhagwabasa is situated in heaven in fact. After enjoying the sightseeing ascent to Kalu Vinayak which will be a 3-hour steep. Kalu Vinayak is a Hindu temple dedicated to the worship of Lord Vinayaka or Lord Ganesha. This is made inside a small cave with small, flat pieces of stone, and inside has placed an idol of Lord Ganesha made of black stone.

7Day 7By morning start trekking from Bhagwabasa which is 14,100 ft. high to Roopkund which is situated at 15,750 ft. high. Then further up to Junargali which is 6,000 ft high. The trail passes through alpine pasture lands that offer a fantastic view of Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, and Badrinath peaks. Later, the trail becomes steep as it gets near Roopkund Lake. After exploring the area and taking pictures, return to Bedni Bugyal. Overnight stay in the tents.

8Day 8Return to Lohajung from Bedni Bugyal via Ali Bugyal and Wan. It will take 6 to 7 hours to Wan. The trail goes downhill and offers a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the forest trail. Once in Lohajung check in to the guest house for dinner and a night stay.

9Day 9Leave Lohajung to Rudraprayag. Distance will be 120 KM and once reached dinner night stay at Rudraprayag. Visit Koteshwar Mahadev temple and Rudraprayag Sangam.

10Day 10Leave early morning from Rudraprayag to Dehradun Airport. The distance is 154 km and will take 3-4 hours to reach. Once in Dehradun Airport continue your onward journey home with sweet memories of this amazing journey.
